BJP took over Congress in BBMP Election 2010 : Bangalore

BBMP Election 2010 : Bangalore – What could be a better surprise for BJP. For the first time, the ruling government in Karnataka state has won the BBMP election (Bangalore city corporation). Before this, Congress was ruling over this. The election took place last week on 198 wards and here are the statistics:
- BJP : 101
- Congress: 61
- JD (S): 13
- Independent: 5

And as per the sources, BJP are going to gain more as result from 18 wards are yet to be declared. Elections to BBMP were held for the first time after 100 wards were expanded to 198 by merging seven city municipal councils, one town municipal council and 111 villages.
